Description
Someone had painted the old barn door a beautiful shade of cyan blue and I thought the choice added the perfect touch of whimsy to the facade of the time-worn barn. Since this fanciful accent is what first caught my eye it would become what my painting was about. As you can see I have used most of the elements found in the original scene to design a composition, but used artistic license to turn it into an entertaining work of art. What we’re painting about is an important question that must be answered first before we ever touch our brush and to paper.

Glad to see this beautiful piece here on FAA, Joyce! Our watercolor class used this and a couple others of your works, studying your techniques out of your wonderful book, so I have a knock-off "Hicks" painting (which turned out fairly well, but will be nowhere but in my home, with a proper accreditation note and print of the original on the back!). Adding to my Faves and sharing on FB, Twitter, and Pinterest.
